Forgotten photos

I started this entry and then saved it and never went back to it. So here a month late is Charlie's 3-year old birthday party.
He was very fortunate to have both set of grandparents, a great-aunt & great-uncle along with a few friends & neighbors.
One of his gifts was a slip 'n slide which you'll see was a big hit with the kids!

First day of school photos

We have the serious this is my first day of school photo & the silly face photo.
Rosty's new fascination is Transformers. He has a Bumblebee book bag (Bumblebee is a van that transform into a robot) & I bought him a new Transformer t-shirt for his first day of school.

School starts tomorrow!

We have been super busy (isn't this the way I start every entry)!
Those of you with kids know how busy you are imagine that you have 100 pigs, 20 head of cattle, 30 sheep, 15 goats, 200 hens, 56 turkeys, 1 llama, 4 dogs and a cat. They like my kids (and husband) need to be fed and watered everyday & their homes need to be checked to see if they need for straw or shavings, etc. You get the idea!
We are now less 10 pigs (they are being processed) and notice that there were no broilers listed- yeah! We processed the last of the broilers last Friday. Pasture-raised chicken sure is good and my customers love it but they are a lot of work.
Well, since my last entry we went to Open House for Rosty at his new school. Everyone tells me that his teacher is wonderful so I'm excited about since first day of school (which is tomorrow). He already had a homework assignment. He had a blank person that he was suppose to make look like him & decorate.
If you know Rosty he loves art and making stuff but this assignment did not interest him in the least. The conversation went like this:
Me: Rosty what color is your hair?
Rosty: Brown & black
Me: OK, is it straight or curly?
Rosty: Curly
Me: So let's draw some curly hair on your paper in pencil & then go back with the markers and color it in
Rosty: I don't know how to draw curls, I don't like homework it's stupid, I don't want to go to school (while tears are streaming down his face)
Me: Honey, it's OK you are going to have so much fun at school.......
You get the gist of the conversation. So I have the only child who does not want to start kindergarten. Every other parent I know says their child is so excited that they sleeping with their book bag in the bed with them.
I just hopes it goes smooth tomorrow.
Lots of people have asked me if I think I'm going to cry....probably not. I will probably cry if Rosty is crying and saying "Mommy don't leave me." So please pray that Rosty has a smooth transition to kindergarten.

No time to post anymore

It seems that we have been so busy that I just haven't had the time to update.
We took a whirlwind trip home to visit my grandfather. He has some health issues so I hope that you will all pray for him. We left our house at 3:30 pm on Saturday and then left my parent's house at 2:30 pm on Sunday. Very quick trip. We did get to visit with my grandparents, my Aunt & her husband and 1 of my cousins. We listened to Popa's stories until after midnight......I'll never get tired of hearing his stories!! He is a great man and I love him very much!
Lee has been at a conference all week so that has left all the feeding to me and the boys. I sure was glad to see his truck pull in the driveway last night! The boys can be a big help when they want to but most of the time they just want to play in a dirt pile. Last night they were so dirty that I stripped them down to their underwear for the ride home. Rosty got his shoe stuck in mud, it was just caked in mud.....needless to say everything went into the washing machine when we got home.
Since last Friday we have had 4 sows farrow so we have a total of 35 baby pigs. They are so cute running all around in the pasture.
Our biggest event has to be kindergarten screening. Rosty went yesterday afterward when I asked him how he did he said, "I got all the questions right."
We go back next week for Open House and we will find out his teacher and then the next week he starts school. WOW! I can't believe he will be starting school.
I decided to take the day off work and have a mommy & Rosty day. So after the kindergarten screening we went to Marshall's to purchase a new bookbag. Then we did some clothes shopping at Old Navy. We went to Staples for school supplies and then the place I hate most Wal-Mart to finish the school supply shopping. We ate at Chick-Fil-A and he got to play in the indoor play area & then we finished our day with a bowling.
We had a great day!
He was even a good sport and went to Harris Teeter so we could triple coupon shop!! Actually Rosty loves to go grocery shopping with me so that wasn't a hard sell.
By the way, I did good- I spent $35 and saved $44. There were only 3 items that I did not have a coupon for.
Thinking back to our special day my favorite thing Rosty said was when we were on our way to buy his book bag (we had already left school). He said, "Mommy, we didn't even see the playground."

Catching Up.......

We'll another couple of weeks have come and gone..........
We have had a lot of fun things going on lately. I mentioned in my last post that Rosty was going to summer camp. His first week went good! They have planned activities for everyday of the week which include field trips three times a week.
Charlie turned three!
We had a small party with family. The big hit of the party was the slip 'n slide. Just the kids participated in the fun not the adults! Although, that would have made for some good pictures to post!!! We also had the kiddie pool, water guns and water balloons for the kids to enjoy. The real enjoyment was trying to watch me and my mom fill the water balloons before the party. I got very wet in the process!!
We picked a very hot day to have a party but it was all worth it to see him have such a good time! He got a lot of nice things from everyone. He got the movie Madagascar and now he is going around the house singing "you've got to move it, move it" and dancing.
After the party Rosty went back home with my parent's for the week. We really missed having him around the house...... it was unusually quite! I really missed him on Tuesday because that was my birthday (my 25th birthday Julie & Teesa)!!!!!
Before Rosty left he asked me to save him a piece of my birthday cake. I think it's really sweet that he thinks everybody gets a cake on their birthday!
Now we are a 2 kid household again.
This week is Vacation Bible School at our church. VBS is always a lot of fun for the kids but it is always a long week for me. This year I decided not to volunteer to help. I've done VBS the past 4 years and I needed a break...so I thought. My neighbor is teaching the middle school group and asked if I would be her helper. The deal was too good to pass up. She would prepare the lessons and teach I would be there for crowd control. So far so good!
Stay tuned for more......
